I was finally able to upload a video of the Tommy Award Ceremony from this year's Extravaganza. I'm still humbled and moved to tears by the honor. There's so much more work to be done, but I'm deeply grateful to know I don't do it alone. I accept this award on behalf of each of you, my beloved community who shaped me and offered me compassion and courage when I didn’t have the faith to find it within myself. I accept this award on behalf of my family, elders and ancestors whose legacy I pray I can carry forward with the same fierce tenacity and persistence as they did. And I accept this award on behalf of the youth who’s emerging leadership inspires a relentless hope that another word is not only possibly, but is on the way. All praises to the Most High. All power to the people. Let’s keep the movement strong.

The New Renaissance Presents: Ancestral Echoes is an afrofuturist exploration of joy and beauty written, directed, and produced by interdisciplinary artist Joe Davis. Originally inspired as a ‘choreopoem', a word coined by late playwright Ntozoke Shange, it’s “a vibrant interplay between movement and language.” Inviting the audience into an immersive world of poets, painters, singers, musicians, and dancers, the story follows seven rebel scientists, or "afrophysicists," struggling to escape a post-apocalyptic future. Guided by a fragmented message left by their ancestors, they discover their music can open up doors to other realms and embark on an epic journey of self discovery and transformation.
